Monday, October 22nd

Today's agenda was:

  • Post-Test Review
  • Introduce the Money and Banking Unit!!
  • Mr. M had a riddle for the kids: 6 items were placed on a table. STudents were to 1. try and identify what the six items were, and 2. Try and identify what they had in common!
  • The students learned that the six items were - tea, salt, fish hooks, sea shells, gold, and rice. Next, after listening to their ideas - Mr. M told the students that all of the items were used as money in the past!
  • Then we fetched the Money and Banking notes off of Edmodo. We answered two important questions in class. 1. What is money? and 2. Why do we use money?
  • To help answer #2 - Mr. M used a Rancher trading a cow to a stuffed owl maker. Why was it not going to work? A student played the part of the cow as well. Bartering doesn't work well because you don't know the true value of items.
